ADULT & CHILDREN REFRACTIVE TESTING

This involves the assessment and measurement of possible refractive abnormalities (e.g., myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia) for the prescription of glasses and contact lenses or for the pre-operative assessment of the patient.

INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE MEASUREMENT

This refers to the measurement of intraocular pressure either as a preventive measure or as part of the progression of a glaucomatous patient. It is performed with a state-of-the-art automatic tonometer.

OPHTHALMOLOGICAL EXAMINATION WITH SLIT LAMP

This involves checking the eyelids and the anterior part of the eye. It is an integral part of a complete ophthalmological assessment to detect the presence of conjunctival diseases (e.g., pterygium), eyelid diseases (e.g., blepharitis), corneal diseases (e.g., contact lens keratitis), crystalline lens opacity – cataract and many others.

GONIOSCOPY

This refers to the assessment of the depth of the angle of the anterior chamber of the eye in the context of glaucoma investigation. It is performed under local anesthesia and a Goldmann tricatoptric lens.

FUNDOSCOPY

This involves checking the posterior part of the eye (e.g., macula, vessels, optic nerve) and is a very important examination for monitoring patients with glaucoma, diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and cardiovascular or other systemic diseases in general. It is also carried out in the context of an emergency assessment for the presence of vitreous detachment or retinal tear – retinal detachment – retinal hemorrhage.

CORNEAL PACHYMETRY

It concerns the determination of the corneal thickness for the accurate assessment of intraocular pressure and preoperatively before refractive surgery or for the indication of possible corneal ectasia (e.g., keratoconus). It is carried out with a state-of-the-art automatic device.

VISUAL FIELDS

It concerns the functional assessment of the optic nerve and is an essential examination for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma or in the context of the investigation of various neurological diseases.
